How fast can you ride on a 10 speed (average)?

ryanleafj asked:

What is the average normal speed (not over-exerting, just a sustainable speed) for biking on a 10-speed. I want to know how long it would take me to get to the supermarket from my house, and I need to know what the average speed would be.

  1. Megan M Says:

If you are in decent shape 13-15mph is average.

  2. Friend Says:

In plane land and no against heavy wind, 19-20 milies/hr. You can make 22 mi/hr - no problem. If assending, that depends on height. It may slow you down to 11-14 miles. If going down, 23-25 mi/hr

  3. Anomaly 17 Says:

For the rest of us normal people you can do 2022 mph and not end up covered in low gears with little resistance and pedal fast to keep from wearing your legs out.
